We’re proud to share that PlayTown Suwanee is officially open to the public!

“The City of Suwanee has created an environment where children of all abilities can play side-by-side, and Primerica is proud to be a part of the effort aimed at building a stronger community,” said Kathryn Kieser, EVP, Chair of The Primerica Foundation and Chief Reputation Officer of Primerica. “Supporting PlayTown aligns with our commitment to help create better places to live, work and play.”

A special thank you to our partner in play:

What's the story behind PlayTown Suwanee?

In 2004, a group of 1,200 volunteers joined together for the City of Suwanee’s first-ever community-built playground: PlayTown Suwanee. Featuring a 10,000-square-foot play area, a giant sandbox, swings, and more. PlayTown was the park of choice for many Suwanee parents and children.

After nearly 20 years of play and love, the original wooden PlayTown was starting to show its age. Rehabbing the beloved park was explored, but ultimately it made more sense to rebuild with modern, durable materials and incorporate new features. With the construction of Town Center on Main, fall 2023 was the perfect time to build a new PlayTown Suwanee, while also providing future generations of families the opportunity to be involved in a truly impactful project.

The design began with playground experts: kids! The project team hosted design brainstorming sessions with local elementary school classrooms. The resulting custom-designed playground includes elements reminiscent of the original while meeting modern inclusivity, safety, and sustainability standards.

Once again, more than 1,200 moms, dads, grandparents, students, and community members came together October 9-15, 2023 to build PlayTown Suwanee 2.0 in the same location as its predecessor. Using earth-friendly, recycled materials that are long-lasting and virtually maintenance-free, the volunteers worked for over 10,000 hours, making lifelong memories, new friends, and creating a lasting gift to the community.
