In November 2022, the City of Suwanee collected thousands of old trophies, medals, and plaques to create the Ultimate Participation Trophy: a giant piece of temporary art by artist Phil Proctor (creator of Suwanee’s famous goat herd!) made out of all of those old awards.
The new public art piece will be unveiled in Town Center Park on Saturday, April 29 at 1:00 pm during the Suwanee Arts Festival.
True to the nature of the participation trophy, everyone wins – houses were decluttered, and the city gets a new piece of public art!
This project fits within ‘Art + Temporary,’ one of Suwanee’s three artistic directions for public art, as defined by the 2015 Public Art Master Plan. The popular SculpTour rotating exhibition also falls within this category.
