Ah, the magic of December 26 – wrapping paper is still strewn across the living room, batteries have finally been found for all the new toys,…and the Christmas tree has dropped nearly all of its needles on the floor.
When your live tree is past its fragrant, sparkly prime, give it a new sense of purpose through the City of Suwanee’s “treecycling” campaign, which is part of Keep Georgia Beautiful’s annual ‘Bring One for the Chipper’ program.
Area residents may drop off their former living Christmas trees at Sims Lake Park, located at 4600 Suwanee Dam Road, from December 26 through January 8. Decorations, lights, and stands should be removed from all trees prior to donating. Last year, mulch from nearly 1,200 former Christmas trees was spread in Suwanee parks. Volunteers will be available to assist with unloading from 9 am-4 pm Saturday, January 8, 2022.
Adult and teen volunteers are needed to assist January 8. To volunteer, contact Nicole Schnepper at
