Suwanee’s Proposed Millage Rate to Remain at 4.93
The City of Suwanee has proposed a millage rate of 4.93 mills, the same proposed rate used in the proposed FY 2019 budget and the same rate used by the City over the past six years.

A Glimpse Behind the Badge
Suwanee's Citizens Police Academy provides area residents with a hands-on glimpse behind the badge and a better understanding of the risks and responsibilities of Suwanee police officers. The 10-week program will next be offered on Monday evenings, September 10-November 13, from 6:30-9:00 pm.

Disney’s Aladdin JR. returning to Suwanee for Broadway in the Park’s 12th Anniversary
Suwanee Performing Arts presents Disney’s Aladdin JR. for the 12th annual Broadway in the Park production, as well as Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, a fun-filled original one-act musical. This energetic, family-friendly, free event will begin at 7 pm on July 27 and 28 in Town Center Park.

Suwanee Summer Porch Jam Debuts on June 21
The first Make Music Day event in Georgia, Summer Porch Jam will have the feel of an old-fashioned summer block party. Featuring food trucks, beer, and wine, musicians will be playing outdoors at multiple venues throughout Old Town Suwanee.

The City of Suwanee hides two pieces of art along one of the greenways or within city parks each day throughout the month of May. Those who find the art pieces get to keep them! Luck art hunters are encouraged to share their finds on social media using the hashtag #artonalimb2018.

Resurfacing Project Begins on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road
The Georgia Department of Transportation has begun resurfacing Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road between I-85 and Buford Highway. Crews will begin work at 7:00 pm and remain overnight until 6:00 am Monday through Sunday, causing single lane closures during the evening hours.

Ride Along with Suwanee's Finest
Suwanee's Citizens Police Academy is now accepting applications for its Spring 2018 class. The academy will be offered Monday evenings April 16-June 28 from 6:30-9:00 pm at the Suwanee Police Training Center. The academy allows residents a better understanding of the day-to-day functions of police.

City of Suwanee Names its 2018 Suwanee Youth Leaders Class
Suwanee has named the members of its fifth Suwanee Youth Leaders (SYL) class for the year 2018. SYL is an eight-month leadership program for high school sophomores and juniors who live within the North Gwinnett, Peachtree Ridge, or Collins Hills cluster districts.

Suwanee was named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. The nationwide program provides the framework for communities to manage and expand their public trees. 3,400+ communities have made the commitment to become a Tree City USA.

City of Suwanee Named 2017 Crown Community
Suwanee was Crown Community by American City & County magazine for its work on the Orchard at White Street Park. The first public orchard in the southeastern U.S., the orchard is a collaboration between the city, nonprofit community garden Harvest Farm, and local landscape architect Roger Grant.
